Welcome to the Lotus Foundations Getting Started Guide. This document is intended for administrators and provides the basic steps required to install a fully functioning Lotus Foundations server.
This guide is designed to get the basic Lotus Foundations-powered server set up and running quickly, but it covers only the basic installation, configuration, and set-up topics. For more advanced features and topics, refer to the online documentation for Lotus Foundations.

Product overview
Lotus Foundations provides an essential solution for running a business reliably, securely, and simply. By providing an ideal server for businesses with up to 500 users, Lotus Foundations is a perfect solution to help deliver professional results with a limited budgets and information technology resources in mind.

System Requirements
To properly run Lotus Foundations, one of the following platforms is required:
- Net Integrator Mark I (G5, G6 or G7)
- Net Integrator Mark II (G5, G6 or G7)
- Net Integrator Micro II (G2) (limited to 5 users)
Or a server with the following minimum requirements:
- x86 based system
- At least one hard disk. Hot swap, or simple swap removable drives are needed for all features.
- At least one Network Interface Card. Two network cards are needed for all features.
- CD-ROM drive
- VGA based video card
- 1GB RAM
- Monitor
- Keyboard
| Important Note For installation, the system must boot from the CD-ROM. This can be accomplished through the boot settings in the system BIOS. Lotus Foundations installs onto the hard disks after they have been configured.

Summary of Installation
The Lotus Foundations component provides the base operating system and many of the core features.
To install Lotus Foundations the following steps are required:
- Set up either a Net Integrator Mark I, Mark II or Micro II that has Lotus Foundations pre-installed or third party hardware, upon which you will need to install Lotus Foundations.
- Install the Lotus Foundations software.
