Question

Why is my profile not being shared between Windows 2000/XP and Windows Vista?

Explanation

When a Windows workstation is configured to be a member of an NT Domain, and the NT Domain Controller is the Lotus Foundations server, the profile of the user logging onto the Windows workstation is stored on the server.

The user's profile contains the Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts and the Desktop background.

Profiles for significantly different versions of Windows workstations have a different arrangement for user profiles, and they are stored separately, for example:

  • one profile for Windows 9X
  • one profile for Windows 2000 and Windows XP
  • one profile for Windows 2003
