Problem

After upgrading to Nitix v4.5.0 or 4.5.0a, and performing a reboot, content filtering is no longer working correctly. Pages that should be approved are now displaying errors.

Cause

This is a known issue that is caused by the deletion of some or all of a servers content filtering lists, which occurs when the server is rebooted after an upgrade.

Status

This problem is a known issue and is solved by upgrading to Nitix version 4.5.0b. Please read the workaround below, for upgrading from version 4.5.0 or 4.5.0a, to this release.

Workaround

One way to workaround this known issue is to export your content filtering lists before rebooting and then importing them back into the server, if any issues are noticed.

Important Note
You must log into WebConfig from a supported web browser, for the following steps to work correctly. For a list of supported web browsers please see the following section of the Nitix User Manual Connecting to WebConfig

  1. Perform the upgrade to Nitix v4.5.
  2. Export your permitted and denied website lists:
    1. Log into WebConfig.
    2. Click WWW in the left hand menu.
    3. Next to Content Filtering click (Configure).
    4. Take note of the number of websites listed in the Permitted and Denied lists.
    5. Click List Management at the bottom of the screen.
    6. In the Export Website Lists section select the "Enable" radio button next to Permitted and Denied web site lists.
    7. Click Export Lists.
    8. Save the list to your workstation.

  3. Download and upgrade to version 4.5b. Be sure to reboot the server, then confirm the changes.
  4. Confirm the number of websites in the Permitted and Denied lists.
  5. If the number is different from before the reboot, import the previous website lists back into the server:
    1. Log into WebConfig.
    2. Click WWW in the left hand menu.
    3. Next to Content Filtering click (Configure).
    4. Click List Management at the bottom of the screen.
    5. In the Import Website Lists section select the radio button next to Permitted and Denied web site lists.
    6. Browse to the previously saved file.
    7. Click Import Lists.

Restore Lost Lists

If you have already rebooted and have discovered that your content filtering lists are missing or partially missing, you can do the following:

  1. Downgrade the server to Nitix v4.4.0a2.
  2. Restore the server configuration from the IDB disk.
  3. Upgrade the server to v4.5b.
