Introduction
Welcome to the NitixBlue Quick Start Guide. This document is intended for administrators and provides the basic steps required to install a fully functioning NitixBlue server.
| Warning To avoid loss of mail and other critical data, it is recommended that the following be done, prior to a Nitix to NitixBlue migration:
|
System Requirements
To properly run NitixBlue, you will require one of the following platforms:
- Net Integrator Mark I (G5, G6 or G7)
- Net Integrator Mark II (G5, G6 or G7)
Or a server with the following minimum requirements:
- x86 based system
- At least one IDE and/or SCSI hard disk
- At least one Network Interface Card
- IDE or SCSI CD-ROM drive
- VGA based video card
- 1GB RAM
See the Net Integration Certified Hardware list for more supported systems.
| Important Note Net Integration Technologies only supports our certified servers. However, Nitix should work in most cases when the server meets the requirements as outlined above.
|
Required External Peripherals
If you are installing NitixBlue on a Net Integrator Mark II, peripheral devices are not required. If you are installing NitixBlue on an IBM server, the following peripheral devices are required:
- Monitor
- Keyboard
| Important Note For installation, the system must boot from the CD-ROM. This can be accomplished through the boot settings in the motherboard's BIOS. Nitix will install onto the hard disks after they have been configured.
|
Summary of Installation
To install NitixBlue the following steps are required:
- Set up either a Net Integrator Mark I or Mark II that has Nitix pre-installed or third party hardware, upon which you will need to install Nitix.
- Install the NitixBlue software.
- Create one or more user accounts in WebConfig to access Domino Web Access (DWA).
- If you require client software to use Domino mail and other groupware components, you can install IBM Lotus Notes or Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO) onto your workstations.
