What are the parameters for creating new users and teams?
Solution
User and Team Name Guidelines
- must be unique
- must be a minimum of 1 character in length
- can be up to a maximum of 24 characters (Windows 95 and 98 clients can only access team and user names that are 13 characters or less. Windows 2000 and XP do not have this limitation.)
- user and team accounts are NOT case sensitive
- no spaces allowed in the account creation
- no special characters permitted
Punctuation in User and Team Names
Special characters and punctuation that CANNOT be used:
~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) + = `{ } [ ] /? , ~~ ; : "
Punctuation that CAN be used:
- - (eg. abc-123)
- . (eg. abc.123)
- _ (eg. abc_123)
These restrictions also apply to imported users and teams.
Password Restrictions
- must be a minimum of 1 character
- a maximum limit of 255 characters
- ARE case sensitive
- all special characters and punctuation are permitted
